Tennessee Coach Admits He's Been Using "Ask Madden" To Call Plays

Tennessee Head Coach Jeremy Pruitt admitted at a press conference today that he’s been using “Ask Madden” mode from the popular Madden video game series to call Tennessee’s offensive plays this season.

“Look,” Pruitt said, “No one knows more about football than John Madden, so who better to call our plays? We’re trying to bring our football program into the 21st Century and appeal to young recruits. And EA Sport is most definitely ‘in the game’”

The Volunteers have lost both of their matchups this season to powerhouses Georgia State and BYU, as expected. Pruitt admits that following the BYU loss he’s considered taking the game off of “rookie mode” before their Week 3 matchup against UT Chattanooga, but remains adamant that he will continue to “Ask Madden” going forward. “If he says to run the HB dive on 3rd and 10, well we’re gonna listen.”

A lot of Tennessee Recruits and Alumni have become increasingly skeptical of Pruitt’s unorthodox play calling, but there are some who still have hope.

“I think Coach is on to something here. One time I won the championship with Donovan McNabb’s Eagles using only ‘Ask Madden’ plays, and threw for 576 yards and 7 touchdowns,” said Freshman third-string QB Brian Maurer. “I believe in Coach Pruitt,” he said proudly.

A couple of Seniors for UT have voiced their displeasure with how things are going. Some even said they've considered entering the transfer portal. It doesn’t seem to phase Pruitt though, who looked content when questioned about the debacle.

“If someone doesn’t wanna play for me, then they can get up on out of here. We don’t have time for that nonsense. Plus, I can think of plenty of Volunteers to take their place,” Pruitt chuckled as he motioned for the end of the Press Conference.
